SWAT Team Captures Gunman In Deadly Double Shooting At Baltimore Senior Living Facility: Cops

A 79-year-old man is dead and another is fighting for his life after a shooting inside a Baltimore senior living facility, police said.

The gunfire erupted shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Pleasant View Gardens senior apartments on North Central Avenue, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Responding officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Clyde Barnes, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 72-year-old man was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspected shooter, 65-year-old Norman Waker of Baltimore, was found inside the building during a SWAT sweep. 

He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree murder.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
